Rust Belt Blues, 2025, printed in collaboration with Marshall Brown, woodcut, linocut, collagraph, pieced shiramine and found paper
Rust Belt Blues is a collaborative, site-specific project that was installed in April of 2025 at the frosted windows in the Walker Painting studio at Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts. Marshall, from Kentucky, and I, from Michigan, looked to fuse symbols and patterns from our homes, creating a patterned quilt that honors our homes and brightens the space. Two of our woodblock plates reference traditional quilt square patterns, one from Michigan and one from Kentucky. Marshall and I incorporated found paper, as well as floral and organic patterns and motifs from our childhoods.
