Bunch Grass, 2024
mixed media print (collagraph, linocut, gelli print) on dyed fabric
Bunch Grass is an exploration of the history of American lawns and the destruction of prairies. The inspiration for this piece is Tower Grove Park in St. Louis which was built in the late 1800s on top of a tallgrass prairie. Settlers leveled prairie grasses and prevented the necessary burnings that prairies require to maintain biodiversity. This piece offers a contrast between Tower Grove Park’s cut grass and the potential for allowing the land to become a prairie again.
